Panasonic Toughpad FZ-N1 ( Rugged Smartphone with Barcode Reader Launched at $1499 )




Earlier, we exclusively reported about Cat S60 the latest rugged smartphone from Catphones that features world’s first built-in Thermal Camera. Now, Panasonic has officially launched a new extremely durable smartphone in its Toughpad series called as Panasonic Toughpad FZ-N1 at the MWC 2016 event in Barcelona. Along with the Android version, the brand has also launched Windows 10 variant and is called as Panasonic Toughpad FZ-F1.

Additionally, older devices aren’t compatible with today’s standard enterprise applications, offer reduced voice and data features and are larger and heavier than they need to be. The Toughpad FZ-F1 and FZ-N1 handheld tablets give companies looking for an up-to-date, powerful, flexible and purpose-built solution, an excellent option that will improve efficiency, productivity and bottom-line performance for years to come.”

The main highlight of the Toughpad FZ-N1 is it features an ergonomically designed, angled rear laser barcode scanner that allows the users to scan various products and will be useful for wide variety of applications such as inventory management, shipping & receiving, delivery routing, parcel tracking, retail store line busting and bar code medication administration. The smartphone is also highly durable as it is rated to withstand drops upto 2000 times from 6 feets. The device is also IP65, and IP67 certified making it rain, dust, shock, vibration resistant and is also submersible in water upto 3.3 feets for 30 minutes.

Coming to the specifications, the Toughpad FZ-N1 flaunts a 4.7-inch (1280×720 pixels) HD sunlight-viewable display with many features like glove enabled, stylus supported and rain sensing mode that can deliver accurate operation even in inclement weather. Under the hood, it packs Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz paired with Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It supports dual sim dual standby and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. It has 16GB of built-in storage and also includes a microSD card slot for further expansion upto 64GB.

The smartphone sports an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front shooter for video calling and selfie clicks. Connectivity options on the device include 4G-LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1 and microUSB 2.0 port. The smartphone is backed by a 3200mAh battery that can last upto 8 hours of talk time, supports quick charging technology and also comes with an optional 6200mAh battery back. The Wi-Fi, only variant of the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-N1, is priced at $1499 (approx Rs. 1,02,853) and will be available in March 2016. The voice model of the device will be introduced later in Summer 2016, and there is no word on the pricing.
